Holler Higher.

This struck me today. Not only because this image is by one of my favorite artists, Steve Powers (who creates paintings synthesizing imagery and text, basically fashioning a cohesive screen shot of his mind) but because I feel like I need a higher power to give me a lil holler right about now.

In a society increasingly saturated in (for lack of a better, more all-encompassing term) bullshit, sometimes it can be tough to remember which way is up. So Krishna, Jesus, Buddha, Allah or perhaps my Lala: feel free to get in touch. I don't want to go to church, but I do have a few questions for ya.

Obsession of the day...perhaps even the week.

This illustrator, Adam Jackson, is tha shit.

Not only is he super talented, but he is so friggin nice. I discovered his work randomly online, and sent him an email (something I never do unsolicited to artists) telling him how much I liked his stuff. What does he do? Offers to make me a special lil sumthin sumthin. How many ways can you say awesome!?!

I'm gonna be checking my mail for his piece for me like a crackhead scours the streets for drug change now.

Check him out right now cus his other stuff is as equally dope:

Remixing with Colbert.

It's just a funky kind of Friday. Therefore, let the remixing live on.

"Remixing is okay! I say it, blunt and in your face!"

I'm not sure if I like the throbbing beats or Colbert's creepy glowing neon painted face more.

Lets Learn to Disco... the Swedish way.

It's rainy. So lets all do the Slagsmålsklubben Övningsköra.

The synthesizer here is on point.

If, by any chance, you need a chuckle and are occasionally as unproductive as I am while at work:

Blood.
"Blooood! Not funny!"

Scarlet Takes A Tumble. Pretty self-explanatory.
"Break a neck off a table. I shouldn't perform that." uhh...truer words never spoken.

Charlie Bit My Finger. This never gets old. Cute lil British kids.
"Charlie, that really hurt. And it's still hurting."

Like fresh meat, Santiago Mostyn is raw.

I love Santiago Mostyn.

Shit, just look at that photo. Could be many a place. Could be many an era.

His recent small self-published paperback called All Most Heaven is a searing photo-documentary of the two years Mostyn traveled across America. I've always wanted to do that. Damn my real job.

Anyways, he's having a collaborative installation with Bill Daniel at Needles and Pens Gallery in the city starting tomorrow. I think I may just have to check it out.
